★ This thing changed communication: Happy 10th bi rthday Skype. You changed everything; too bad you didn’t change Microsoft ― Tech News and Analysis

Back in the day when I was still a consultant and didn't even think about Nozbe (around 2004) I remember I had a client in Spain and they were complaining about their telephone bill when calling Poland to talk to me. And then we discovered Skype and were blown away. It just worked, it was simple, the quality was excellent. Even over a poor Internet connection. Suddenly talking to people all over the world was easier than chatting. Just like ICQ introduced chatting, Skype introduced audio calling.

Now, 10 years later I live on the outskirts of a small city and I have a crappy Internet connection, but a lot better than 10 years ago. Instead of a modem or you know, 256kbit, I have lousy 3Mbit for now (I know, I know) but when I try to call via Skype now, the calls drop, quality is mediocre, and when we try to talk with several people, everything goes to hell after a few minutes.

Now we use FaceTime with my team, we use iMessage, we've practically moved on from Skype. It's a shame, they are a Microsoft product... and they forgot about quality...
