Seth's Blog: Magic + Generosit... sethgodin.typepad.com/seths_blog/2013/08/magic-generosity-the-brand-crush.htm screenshot

Totally important. I always love to receive letters from Nozbe users who love Nozbe and our apps helps them get things done. This Fall we'll focus even more on making Nozbe awesome for them. Can't wait to show you the first examples of it.

Something I learned this summer thanks to my mentor Mariusz. If you haven't read the Salesforce book, get it. And read my post on setting up V2MOM - your company needs it. It gave me a great focus and strategy ideas.

★ Totally agree here and I'm kinda spooked: Surveillance: The Enemy of Innovation

Surveillance: The Enemy of Inn... www.mondaynote.com screenshot

Again, something I'm thinking a lot about lately. How far can we give up our privacy. Will we just accept not having privacy at all or will we do something about it and not let the BIG BROTHER be watching us? Hard to say, but I guess I see all of us getting used to the idea of not having privacy at all... and what do you think?

★ This is why I don't follow it anymore: News is bad for you – and giving up reading it will make you happier

News is bad for you – and g...

A couple of years ago I decided to stop watching daily news. I got too frustrated, too powerless, too depressed... I just thought that every time I'd fire up TV I'd see BAD NEWS and not just news. Now I know I was on to something. Ditching daily news is actually good for you.

For the record: I do follow industry information and read articles daily... but I don't follow "daily news" of "things happening in the world"... and I can't say I'm not happier like this. If something really important happens, other people eventually tell me about it :-)

My new credo: "No news is good news. Daily news is bad news" :-)

★ Fascinating story of the EA FIFA game: Rejection, tragedy and billions of dollars - The story of FIFA

Rejection, tragedy and billion... www.mcvuk.com screenshot

I can understand why the Americans didn't see the potential of the FIFA Football (Soccer) game... and this story shows how a few dedicated people made it happen despite their corporate pressure to "kill" the project on almost every step... and now this game is generating popularity of soccer in the USA and is one of the most successful game franchises of all time... inspiring story.

★ Well, I might have been wro ng (thanks @mwkoehler): Yes, Gmail users have an expectation of privacy

Yes, Gmail users have an expec...

It's always important to dig deeper and not rely on the words taken out of the context. Thanks Michael Koehler for reminding me about it. Anyway in this article The Verge says Google is actually concerned about our privacy when it comes to Gmail and it's the non-Gmail users they refer to for scanning their email.

Anyway, this whole NSA/Google /Spying thing creeps me out and I'm still thinking about leaving Gmail for something else - maybe an old-school IMAP with MailRoute for spam/virus protection? Haven't decided yet. I'm just not sure I trust Google anymore as much...

★ The only thing I still do on my Mac and not #iPadOnly: Regular People Have No Idea How To Manage Photos On Their iPhone ― Chambers Daily

Regular People Have No Idea Ho...

This is my biggest complain to Apple. Photostream is a nice idea but it doesn't solve the problem of managing the photos on the iPhone or iPad. iPhoto on iOS doesn't sync with its Mac counterpart and is a waste of money. Really, Apple is lacking an integrated way of dealing with the photos and sync them across devices. Like really sync them. I'd pay for this add-on but Apple, figure something out, please.

4 Considerations in Picking a ...

I actually consulted Michael on changing my blog name from "MichaelNozbe" to "MichaelSliwinski" and he was the one suggesting me the change. I can't be happier about it. This way people are not confused, "Nozbe" is my company, not my last name :-)

If you're thinking about building your platform, read this advice by Michael. He's a great mentor :-)

★ Makes total sense (by @gruber): The Case for a New Lower-Cost iPhone

Daring Fireball: The Case for ...

A good strategy from Apple: iPhone 5C (as in "cheap" or "colors :-) and the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 5S (as in "super" or "speedier" or "spectacular" or just "super expensive" :-)

Anyway, looking forward to the September 10 event. I'd like to know if Apple convinces me to upgrade my 5 to 5 supercharged :-)

★ A cautionary tale: How BlackBerry Fell (and how anyone can)

How the iPhone and Bad Decisio...

Just think about it, from $250 a share to $10 a share in 6 years... and for a company founded in the 80s... incredible how the might can fall and how steep the road down is... The point of the matter is - if you ignored the iPhone, you were screwed and you didn't know about it (yes, also look at Nokia and Microsoft)... so make sure to check your industry to always be watching what "your next iPhone" can be...

Time to switch I guess... but where? Google's lawyers: If you use Gmail you have no expectation of privacy

Google's lawyers: If you ... www.tuaw.com screenshot

This is really spooky. I've been a Gmail user for a long long time. I'm using Google Docs to collaborate and I'm using Google Calendar to share my company's agenda. Up until now I wasn't worried as I thought, I'm no big fish, who cares about my email, nobody would really spy on me, right?

However, recent push of Google , NSA spying controversy and now the flat-out statement from Google's lawyers about assuming if I'm using Gmail I gave up my privacy already creeps me out.

I'm thinking of switching services... but where to? Use old-school IMAP? What to use for spam/virus filtering? Any good open-source or commercial webmail for local server? What do you think?
