Great #tips by Leo: Simplify the Internet
Simplify the Internet : zen...
Totally agree. I'm trying to do it myself now. Reduce amount of time I spend on the Internet, email, social networks... And yet still be connected to you all :-)

Great incentive to #focus this year by @zen_habits: Do Less: A Short Guide
Do Less: A Short Guide : ze...
Something I'm struggling with myself this year but something I need to take to my heart. Do less, but do it, finish it, ship it, deliver and delight others. Enjoy fruits of your work by doing less of them but doing them really well. Totally.

Speaking of #happy employees in a #startup (by @asmartbear): Austin in San Francisco
Austin in San Francisco by @...
Totally share this approach - startup must be an enabler - people who work with you need to grow. Even if they are scared of their own growth (I know, I'm scared of my growth as the CEO...) but it's something that keeps them motivated and moving forward.
When you pay people good money (enough that they are not concerned about it too much anymore), more bonuses or premiums won't cut it. They will even be counter-productive. What works is getting them motivated, giving them bigger goals... enabling them to be better...

Great #observation by Seth: What people buy when they buy something on sale
Seth's Blog: What people buy w...
Exactly my observation by watching people hunting for sales this January here in Europe. I went in and bought the things I needed at a reduced price... and even me, an "enough-ist" or "minimalist" had hard time resisting "buying something just because it's discounted"... and it's amazing how much stuff people buy just because it's cheaper now.

Good advice for #startup founders: How to Wow Your Employees
How to Wow Your Employees &laq...
It's something I'm constantly working on. Wowing your employees is as much as important as wowing your customers. You can't just say to a person that works with you that they have to do something "because I say so". OK, you can, but it won't work in the long term. If you wow them, convince them, sell them on the idea, they are with you for the long haul.

Very #interesting analysis: iPhone Low-cost Numbers
http://www.mondaynote.com/2013/01/20/iphone-low-cost-numbers/
I'm still wondering if Apple is going to follow the game of low-cost phones. It's like with netbooks = they couldn't do a $500 laptop that wasn't junk. But they did a $500 tablet and it wasn't/isn't junk (I'm using it right now :-)
The old-generation iPhone 4 is still a great phone, but I'm not sure it costs sub-$100 to manufacture... Anyway, prepaid phones are really cheap. I can go to Media Markt here in Europe and buy one, unlocked, for 20 EUR. I still don't think it's the kind of market Apple wants to be in.

My latest post (and drawing) on #ipadonly: Part 18 - My life in the cloud thanks to the iPad
Part 18 - My life in the cloud...
The cloud computing is so important when you work nowadays... and especially when you work on the iPad. I can't highlight it enough... although I do try in this post.
Even if you don't work on the iPad full time as I do, read it. Move to the cloud. Today.

This is why @Nozbe is doing so well: MBA Mondays: Revenue Models - Subscriptions
A VC: MBA Mondays: Revenue Mod...
Subscriptions is the best business model ever. It's good for customers (you pay only two cups of coffee a month for a suite of tools that help you get things done), it's good for us (we can predict cash flow, schedule investments, keep on improving our software, hire more talented folks) and it ensures a healthy business relationship between all of us.
And most of all, this makes us focus more on the product and improving it than on collecting money to keep the business afloat. I love subscriptions and I love being in this business. And most of all I love you, my customers who make it all worth while :-)

Want to save 30 hours of your work this year? Good observation by @apinaud: If this is true...
I've talked about it before. Touch typing is so important and learning how to type faster on your computer is key. I write around 60 WPM (words per minute) on a regular keyboard and around 50 on the IPad's virtual keyboard. It's time to practice a little more this year. Want to get to a 100/80 soon... And it's doable :-)

My recent blog post: The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg - (audio)book of the week
The Power of Habit by Charles ...
I totally recommend this book. It's had a great influence on me lately. This is why I'm so consistent with jogging now.
Developing good habits is key. 'Nuff said.

Shopify Year In Review: 2012 &...
I met Tobias two years ago at BoS conference and he really impressed me. He doesn't have a big-CEO type of flare. But when he opens his mouth, you realize he knows what he's talking about.
Very impressed with their business. Amazing results. Now let's work on a similar growth for Nozbe this year :-)

Very #useful read: 25 Things I wish I knew before moving to San Francisco
25 Things I wish I knew before...
A few takeaways:
- Next time I'm in town here I'll definitely check more restaurants.
- The rent is really absurd.
- it's all about startups baby :-)

Times are #changing: Dell Stock Price Skyrockets On Report It Is In Talks To Go Private
Dell Stock Price Skyrockets On...
Dell's stock reflects how the PC industry is doing... how they were building beige boxes back in 1998 when Apple introduced the iMac and how they are building black laptops when Apple is selling iPads... but it's so sad to see Dell going so bad. I hope Michael can still turn the company around.
To their credit: at one time they had one of the best portable computers in the industry, the best online ordering solutions and the best door-to-door guarantee...
